SAPPHIRE

On December 17, 2023, Lead Guitarist and founding member of Sapphire, Steve
Zelusky, tragically and unexpectedly passed away at his home due to a cardiac
condition. Words cannot express how devastating this loss has been to Steve’s
wife, children, brother, bandmates, and friends.

Steve has been a driving force in Sapphire dating all the way back to the band’s
creation in 1980 when Steve and lead-singer Michele were seniors at Minersville
Area High School. Steve’s passion for music, talent for playing guitar, and
knowledge of the technology that makes modern music performance possible allowed Sapphire to become what it is today. It is safe to say that Sapphire would
never have existed without Steve’s vision, passion, and drive.

For a brief moment after Steve’s passing, we questioned whether or not
Sapphire should go on in his absence. But very quickly, we realized that while Steve may not be with us physically, he will always be with us in spirit and will
remain part of every performance we ever do. We know that Sapphire must
continue in large part because Steve would have it no other way.

This page is dedicated to Steve and his love of Sapphire. We know he has
touched so many people with his talent, sense of humor, and never-ending
supply of “one-liners”. We invite fans to share band-related pictures and stories
